Date: March 15, 2017 Author: Admin Categories: Blog, Events, General, News

Waterford Childcare Centre is hosting a Lámh-lympics on Tuesday 21.03.17 to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day. Lámh-lympics is our very own Olympics with a twist! Lámh-lympics will include an obstacle course full of jumping, running, climbing, etc. using Lámh sign language to help us through each obstacle!

Each playroom has a registration form and Children and staff can register to take part by donating €2 each (to be collected at WCC) and all donations will be presented to the local Down Syndrome Branch, DSI Waterford & South Kilkenny.

We love Fundamental Movement and practise every day with our babies, toddlers, preschool and school age children so on March 21st we’re making a celebration out of our stability locomotive and manipulation skills.

We’ll be starting the morning with some homemade banana muffins and we’ll be full of energy by 10.30 am which is our Lámh-lympics start time and we hope to finish by 11.30 am.

Junior Babies have a challenge “take the biscuit” which is a crawling race with a healthy biscuit to entice the crawlers to the finish line! Senior Babies & Junior Toddlers take the “wind in the willow challenge” where they race through our willow tunnel and on the fun goes right through the centre!

Staff wishing to sign up for the egg and spoon race must register with Breda and our wheelbarrow racers must register with Emily and Leigh Anne!
