Easter Holiday Camp Activities 2016

This year, we will be running special Easter camps for children on the weeks of the school holidays. Week 1 is Egg-citing Easter. For Week 2,  we’ll be chasing An Taisce’s Green School’s 3rd flag – the Water flag, so our theme will be WCC Rocks Water!

“In partnership with the adult, children will develop and nurture their sense of wonder and awe”- Aistear: Well-being, Aim 3, learning Goal 3.

The schedule for Activities is as follows:

Week 1

Monday 21st March

Art & Crafts from Recyclables: bunny bowling, bunny hop races, chicken finger tips

Baking: Easter biscuits

Eggs-periments: Invisible eggshells

Easter themed rhymes & stories

Tuesday 22nd March

Scrambled eggs for breakfast

Art & Crafts from Recyclables: Easter headbands, making cress characters using egg shells

Fundamental Movement: Egg-lympics

Eggs-periments: Easter colour explosion

Breda’s hens are coming to visit!

Wednesday 23rd March

Art & Crafts from Recyclables: Bunny boxes, Eggs in a basket collage, Easter colours

Cooking lunch: making our special recipe quiche

Bring in an old sock to make Sock Bunnies

Fundamental Movement: Stepping stones, Cup & ball chicks

Eggs-periments: Egg in a bottle

Thursday 24th March

Eggs-periments: surface tension rainbows

Art & Crafts from Recyclables: painting with spring colours

Fundamental Movement: An ‘ABC’ treasure hunt

Fun drumming: As part of celebrating our year of Peace & Friendship, the older children will performing our drumming circle for the younger ones.

Friday 25th March

Easter Bonnet Parade: Parents, children and staff are invited to up-cycle an old hat into an Easter bonnet to wear during the day.

Eggs-periments: Exploring ‘baby waves’ aka ripples in puddles.

Eggs-travaganza: Easter Party & party games & Easter egg hunt

Forestry school, weather permitting.

Trocaire Better World Award

Learning about climate change and completing a case study

Art & Crafts from Recyclables: making awareness posters

Water games: sock bubbles, freeze water in different shaped containers

Make Water Wizard badges

Wednesday 30th March

Water Action Day: Filling recycled plastic mineral/water bottles to place in each toilet cistern to reduce water wastage.

Water games: filling and pouring, colouring water, defrosting our shapes

Water Wizards on patrol: Making sure all taps are turned off

Thursday 31st March

National Spring Clean Day in association with An Taisce

Easter gardening using recyclables

Making home-made cleaning products

Clean our play cars, sweep the garden, clean the swings and our train

Count how many cups of water we drink for our water chart

Friday 1st April

Foolish Fun Day – celebrating April Fool’s Day – get your jokes ready for Our Jokes Workshop!

Make sensorial rain sticks using recyclables (each child is invited to bring a small empty plastic bottle)

Please remember…Wear play clothes suited to the activities listed & bring in a spare set of labelled clothes. The activities’ schedule may vary from playroom to playroom.
